Martian War Machine Diorama

With sculpted Manta ship

I first scanned a page from the Martian War Machine diagrams that I purchased years ago. Reducing the size to a three inch wing span. This was then pinned to a block of Floral Foam. I followed the pattern until the outer shape was achieved. Next I began sanding away until I was satisfied with the overall shape, and to the point where I was afraid to go any further. then crafted the cobra neck and eye piece out of styrene tube and sheet. I heated the tube in boiling water until I got the bend I wanted. I sealed the foam ship with acrylic finishing spray, then painted it. The base of the model is a piece of styrofoam covered with model train grasses and dirts, tree's and brush. HO scale train accessories of telephone poles and people were added. For now I have a roadside Martian attack scene. When I make two more ships, I'd like to do a city street scene. As this was my first attempt at sculpting I'm pleased with the results and will fine tune my next attempts.
